Spring Fling

Spring Fling:  Fashion Show and Fund Raiser held on May 15th, 2010, at the HHR Clubhouse

On May 15th, 2010, the Good Times Committee organized the first spring fashion show and luncheon for the ladies.  It was raining outside, but in the clubhouse ballroom butterflies made their presence on spring flowers adorning the foyer, tables and the fireplace mantel.

No one left hungry as choices were numerous at several buffet tables featuring over 60 different potluck dishes residents had expertly cooked.  As ladies leisurely enjoyed their dessert, a fashion show followed with the fabulous clothes provided by Christopher Banks located at the Meadows Shopping Center.  A wonderful party favor at each woman’s place setting was designed by Geri DeCarlo and made by Joan Ketterer.

Sandy Aubuchon, from the Good Times Committee, said, “I’ve always thought it would be fun to help plan a spring fashion show and Christopher Banks has great clothes appropriate to our lifestyle as retirees.”

Twelve of our residents delighted the crowd as they gracefully walked the runway decorated by Ann Allard.  The models were:  Linda Hanson, Carol Richert, Trish McCullen, Judy Jacques, Rose Kipper, Huguette Duff, Judy Markham, Ann Zito, Ginny Wolfram, Sharon Brooks and Laverne Meyer.  Model Janet Cook, looking gorgeous in an outfit suitable for golfing, expertly hit a golf ball right over the audiences’ head for some added fun.

A musical skit had everyone laughing when humorous poems were read and familiar songs were sung with a comedic twist to express how a woman’s life changes as she ages.  Betsy Miller helped organize the hilarity with Sandy Aubuchon, Linda Bird, Janet Cook, Stephanie Hempel, Theresa Maniscalco, Trish McCullen, Jeanne Brown and Jane Chassey skillfully acting out their parts.

The event was topped off by lucky ladies receiving door prizes donated by Lake St. Louis local businesses and HHR residents.  The Questor’s Explorers chapter president Chris Stephenson announced the winners of those who bought a chance for a live plant.  The Good Times wanted to extend a special thanks to all who volunteered their time and talent to make this a fun afternoon.
